Lesson plan on constructional geometry

SUBJECT: MATHEMATICS          CLASS: X                 SECTION: (A+B)
SYLLABUS TO BE COVERED FROM: 1/12/2014 TO 15/12/2014
TOPIC: CONSTRUCTIONAL GEOMETRY.
CONTENT: The aim of the topic is to develop the fallowing concept about the Constructional ability to draw the figure according to given scale factor using compos box instruments.
·       Introduction of constructions of known angles  based on the concept learnt in the previous year  and bridging the gap if necessary
·       Construction of perpendicular bisector.
·       Construction of angle bisector.
·       Construction of similar triangles.
·       Construction of tangent to a circle at a point on its circumference.
·       Construction of pair of tangents from an external point.
·       Construction of a pair of tangents without using its centre.
·       Construction of tangent at a given point on(alternate segment theorem) .
·       Locating the centre of a bangle.
INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES:   pupils will be made to know about
·        New terms found in the topic.
·       Concept of the common difference and checking whether the given terms forms an AP or not?.
·       Testing the given sequence is in AP or not.
·       Finding the nth term of an AP.
·       Finding the sum of an AP.
·       Solving the problems of day to day life situation.
TEACHING AIDS TO BE USED:
To reinforce the concept for ever in the pupil’s mind the fallowing teaching aids can used.
·       To represent the given data in the bar digramme and hence checking the common difference. Justify for form of an AP.
·       Describing the figure to illustrate sum of an AP and to count the squares directly.
·       To draw the bar graph and testing whether it forms an AP or not?

INNOVATIVE  PRACTICE TO BE USED

Divide the pupils into sub groups consist of four members provide the questionnaire to them along with model/chart/table etc so that to use the models to get sequence (series) found in the questionnaire, let them discuss and solve the problems pertaining to to concept of an AP. Pupils will be directed to solve the problem by using different method learnt in the above topic and  The group which has come with correct answer and enable to demonstrate the answer  of given sequence both  experimentally and as well as induction hypotheses is to be awarded the ranks.

LABORATORY ACTIVITY TO BE CONDUCTED

Each four members group of pupils were instructed to discuss the problem assigned and perform the activity to get more enthusiasm in teaching learning process for ever.
·       To identify the common difference of and ascertain sequence whether it forms an AP or not? .
·       Reading the data by the bar diagramme of the given problem and hence find the sequence.
·       To find the sum of an AP using the histogram.
·       Verify the sum of an AP by drawing an histogram for the given problem.

PROJECT TO BE INITIATED

Each group of pupils was instructed to generate problems of arithmetic progression and introduce the value based questions on the concept of AP.
                                      Or
Construction of working models to find the difference of an AP, and submit the same to mathematics laboratory.
                                    Or
Each group of pupils will directed to prepare power point presentation on the topic Arithmetic progression
                                Or
The group will be directed to prepare quiz questioner using power point presentation.
ASSIGNMENT/HOME WORK TO BE GIVEN

To have thorough understanding of knowledge about the topic and supplement the concept learnt in the class room the fallowing methods can be adopted.
·       Problems assigned by the teacher
·       Problems other than text book.
·       Problems collected from reference book
·       Problems asked in CBSE sample papers
EXPECTED BEHAVIORAL OUTCOME OF THE TOPIC
After the rigorous practice and successful completion of the topic pupils able to
Ø Recall the concept learnt
Ø Understand the different methods to solve problems of arithmetic progression.
Ø Apply the knowledge to solve problems of daily life situation as and when they come across.
Ø To link the concept to higher class problems
Ø  To develop the spirit of solving the problems based on the HOTS.
Ø Analyze the critical situation and take decision to solve.
METHODS OF EVALUATION FOR THE TOPIC COVERED
To know the understanding level of the topic taught one among the fallowing method can be adopted
v Through the interaction in the class room situation.
