AREA: - CAREERS IN HUMAN LIFE .

TOPIC: - CAREER DECISION IS A MILE STONE IN THE STUDENT LIFE .


School: JNV Kalaburgi-II .      Time: - 3:30 am to 4:10 pm
Class: - VIII A                                           Duration: - 40 Minuit’s.

OBJECTIVES: -At the end of the group discussion all the students will be able to
·       Understand the concept of career.
·       Understand Role of career decision in student’s life.
·       Decide the career options according to the  interest and aptitude
·        List the different careers and Priorities the  chosen career option 
·       Develop the required skill and aptitude which suits the career goal
·       Collect more content related for chosen career which help to career development.
·       Develop spirit competition well in advance by collecting the information from various available sources.

DIMENSIONS:-


·       Introduction to the concept of career and its meaning.
·       Role of personal interest in career decision
·       Advantages of career decision in student life.
·       Listing the career options based on aptitude and interest and priorities the options as per socio economical status 
·       Fallow up work to be done to achieve success in opted career goal.


TIME BUDGET:-

·       Arrangements of each group for presentation- 5 Minutes.
·       Presentation/Delivery of the content by each group- 6 minutes each
·       Conclusion- 3 Minutes
·       Recapitulation – 2 Minutes

EXECUTION OF THE GROUP TALK:-






All students of class were divided into 5 batches consist of 7 students  in each and assigned one dimension for each of them in which two members among them   are represented as Leader and Deputy Leader where as remaining 5 of them are members of the same group who collect all required materials and discuss among all after collecting the opinion of  all members  leader will announce and present all the points  and opportunity will be given to prioritise the points in sequential order after discussion and combined decision of points in support of  the theme are addressed by the leader

PRESENTATION OF THE CONTENT BY EACH GROUP:-


·       GROUP-I: - INTRODUCTION TO THE CONCEPT OF CAREER AND ITS MEANING.
The Oxford English Dictionary defines the word "career" as a person's "course or progress through life (or a distinct portion of life)". This definition relates "career" to a range of aspects of an individual's life, learning and work. "Career" is also frequently understood[by whom?]to relate to the working aspects of an individual's life - as in "career woman", for example. A third way in which the term "career" is used describes an occupation or a profession that usually involves special training or formal education,;[1] considered[by whom?] to be a person's lifework.[2][failed verification] In this case "a career" is seen[by whom?] as a sequence of related jobs, usually pursued within a single industryor sector: one can speak for example of "a career in education", of "a criminal career" or of "a career in the building trade". A career has been defined by organizational behavior researchers as "an individual's work-related and other relevant experiences, both inside and outside of organizations, that form a unique pattern over the individual's life span." [3]

ROLE OF PERSONAL INTEREST IN CAREER DECISION
·       According to the ability and interest, aptitude career decision can be opted .
·       Collection of the content as per the interest will fetch the individual to enjoy the career chosen.
·       opted career will be become easy for the individual as is more interested in the specific job.
·       As he/she is skilful in the specified job he/she will find endurance happiness in the chosen job.
·       He/she can priorities the job opportunities based on social economical needs of the society.


GROUP-III:- ADVANTAGES OF CAREER DECISION IN STUDENT LIFE.

Planning the career in advance will have the following advantages in the students life Career Planning is necessary due to the following reasons:
1. To attract competent persons and to retain them in the organization.
2. To provide suitable promotional opportunities.
3. To enable the employees to develop and take them ready to meet the future challenges.
4. To increase the utilization of managerial reserves within an organization.
5. To correct employee placement.
6. To reduce employee dissatisfaction and turnover.
7. To improve motivation and morale.
 GROUP-IV: - LISTING THE CAREER OPTIONS BASED ON APTITUDE AND INTEREST AND PRIORITIES THE OPTIONS AS PER SOCIO ECONOMICAL STATUS  FAMILY BACKGROUND.
Students of each group will be informed to collect at least four different career options as per their interest & aptitude.

GROUP-V: FALLOW UP WORK TO BE DONE TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS IN OPTED CAREER GOAL.
·       To collect required information from the content of the curriculum and get mastery over the chosen career.
·       To develop the skill from various resources available in competitive world.
·       Do the hard work as per the requirement to achieve the goal setting.
·       Priorities the option according to the suitability and ability & adoptability to environment.
As per the strength and weaknesses of the individual career option can be modified and priorities accordingly in latter stage
RECAPITULATION:-

·       Decision making in career formation is a mile stone in the students life.
·       If the opted career choice is as per the decision of an individual it help us to grow in future career path.
·       Deciding the achievable career according to the interest.
·       Collecting the content and skilful techniques as per the requirement.
·       Taking the correct decision in correct time will help to adjust the environment quickly without any problem.

EVALUATION:-
·       Career Decision making is the mile stone for the students life justify –
·       Is Career decision making will help for the growth of profession if so how?
·       Based on what steps career decision can be opted?
·       What are the steps to be followed for the achieving the career goal setting?
·       List out at least four career options as per your interest and aptitude.
·       When can you change the career option?
·       Prepare your resume for career options which you choiced.
CONCLUSION: -
At the end of the group discussion students enable to
·       Understand the meaning of career in life.
·       Understand the importance of taking career decision in student life.
·       Classify the different careers from news paper, Employment news, TV. Radio and available resources.
·       List the career as per their socio -economical needs and prepare for future career plan.
·       Understand the qualification, method of selection, age, personal physical status etc.
·       Understand that education is the instrumentation for all round development of the personality.
